The Internet Share

Back to Teaching Techonolgy

In the 21 century, internet is very important to us. I remembered that, when my computer was brokered by an accident, I borrowed one from my friend. However, there was no internet access in my home until 2 days later. I have to say, that I was so boring in the two days and felt the life was turned from colorful to white and black.web_design_1.jpg
Nowadays, the internet is so powerful. It can either help children or hurt them. Internet is an intangible pass way to transform data quickly and directly. We can get huge benefits from it. There are enormous data bases such as Google, Sina, Wikipedia, and yahoo. Children can use the databases to learn more and more.

Internet is one of the best way to show social-sharing among children. There are two kinds of website in the internet world: Web 1.0 and Web 2.0.

The difference between them is: Web 1.0 is the first stage of the World Wide Web, and Web 2.0 is the second stage. The Web is the link between WebPages with hyperlinks. We are now using Web 2.0.

The second different point of the Web 1.0 is read-only and it is focused on presenting information; this means audience can only read information from web page, but cannot leave comments or feedback. Web 2.0 is more powerful and more shareable. The Web 2.0 has read-write ecology. The users are allowed for information presentation and participation in creating information. Just as Rose and Nelson said: "Web 2.0 is not a technological revolution, it is a social revolution (2008)."

The two main benefits for Web 2.0 are ease of use and social sharing. People are interacting, collaborating, and sharing their creations (such as text, photo, audio, or video) in minutes. Thus, the Web 2.0 is not one-to-one connection, but it is many-to-many connection.

The interesting thing is that children not only use internet database for study or entertainment, but also use the special language to chat each other. Just as some familiar abbreviations: b4=before, lol= laughing out loud, cu=see you, and megs=messages. There are some good examples; We might not know that before.
